  • Health and Physical Well-being
Primary Education

The primary sector focuses on the teaching and learning environment and strengthening the adoption of an outcomes-focused leaning culture.  A child-centred approach to teaching is encouraged as it is motivating to students, promotes higher achievement levels, develops independent learning, and enable students to collect and organise information and develop skills of analysis and problem solving.   The primary education curriculum is delivered through the various primary schools on the island.

Secondary Education

At the secondary level it is essential for students to acquire and further develop the aptitudes, skills and attitudes necessary for living in a changing society, for assessing further education, for

mastering technical skills, and for making a meaningful contribution to the development of self and

country.  The secondary education curriculum is delivered through the Montserrat Secondary School.

Post-Secondary Education

The overall policy for the post-secondary education is to increase access to technical, vocational, academic and professional education and training locally.   Further and continuing education is necessary for the strengthening of Montserrat’s human resources, and the creation of a well-trained and competent workforce capable of contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
